    The Developer II is responsible for providing application software development services and related technical support to ensure the availability of applications and systems used across the organization. Draws on previous experience to solve a range of straight forward problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Typically receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

    Responsibilities

    Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

    • Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications.
    • Develops new applications or analyzes and modifies existing applications provided by third-party software vendors.
    • Analyzes requirements and maintains, tests and integrates application components; ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented.
    • Consults and provides recommendations on projects and business requirements; works in association with Service Architecture and project management teams.
    • Provides third-level technical support as required.
    • Unit tests software written personally or by other developers; ensures software is written and tested in compliance with identified guidelines, internal and external audit requirements and any related financial and legislative requirements.
    • Analyzes existing software and determines how best to implement defect fixes and enhancements.
    • Creates application builds from “checked-in” code as needed.
    • Manages the maintenance and development of existing systems to support the ongoing needs of the business; delivers services based on defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for both in-house and out-sourced services.
    • Accurately reports activities and status to project management/development team leader.
    • Establishes and maintains an understanding of existing application code, development practices and solutions currently managed by the development team.
    • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

     

    Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of related software/application experience; or equivalent combination of post high school education and experience.

     

    Strong developer experience with enterprise platforms. Ideally application development experience using Business Works (BW), Enterprise Message Service (EMS)/JMS, JAVA, SOA, SOAP, REST, JSON, SQL and Unix/Linux.

    • Ability to demonstrate expertise in delivering to a strategic agenda.
    • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply best practices in software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
    • Knowledge of and the ability interpret and apply best standards and practices in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Extensive knowledge of design / programming including design patterns and best practices
    • 1+ years of experience in development using TIBCO platform - Business Works (BW), Enterprise Message Service (EMS), and Spotfire.
    • HAWK, RV and TIBCO administration is a plus.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Previous related experience in the staffing solutions industry, and experience working in a global organization is highly desirable.
