  • Overview

    SUMMARY:

    The Employee Relations Advisor is a member of the HR Shared Service team and serves as the face of the Human Resources Department when interacting with employees, managers and clients on employee relations matters.  The ER Advisor is responsible for managing employee complaints, performing investigations and providing guidance and advice on policies and other HR matters.  This position will work with various stakeholders across the business in taking a proactive approach to anticipate and resolve employee relations issues. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Evaluates/Investigates employee complaints and other work-related issues, providing recommendations on appropriate action, including escalating complex and high-risk employee relations issues to Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) as appropriate.
    • Serves as the subject matter expert on employment laws and appropriately advises and assists managers and colleagues with interpretation and application of policies and procedures, HR compliance matters, disciplinary and termination issues and other employee relations issues as required.
    • Identifies patterns and anticipates employee-related issues. Develops recommendations and initiates appropriate actions for resolution in accordance with policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for administering the company reasonable accommodation process, working with applicable parties to manage requests for reasonable accommodations.
    • Document and maintain up to date case records in accordance with company practices in the case management system.
    • Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures and laws across a multi-state environment.
    • Assist in preparing, developing and editing HR policies in conjunction with other HR departments
    • Work in a fast paced, high volume environment with the ability to prioritize and multi task effectively.
    • Works collaboratively with HR team and completes other related assignments as needed.
    • Collaborates with HRBPs to provide insight on trends that may lead to the development of training and programs aligned with organizational needs.
    • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or a related field strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience with a heavy emphasis on employee relations required.
    • HR certification and previous experience working in a large complex organization is preferred.
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

     

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred
    • Strong knowledge of federal and state HR and employment laws and practices
    • Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles, best practices, and standards of human resources administration, with an emphasis on employee relations.
    • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing with various levels of employees, management and senior leadership.
    • Ability to provide high-level customer service and a consultative approach to business unit stakeholders.
    • Ability to lead, motivate and influence groups and individuals at various levels within the organization.
    • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.
    • Ability to evaluate processes, conceptualize enhancements and recommend/implement changes or alternatives.
    • Ability to identify existing or new trends and evaluate and predict their impact on the organization.
    • Knowledge of and ability to effectively utilize Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), such as PeopleSoft, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems, such as Salesforce.com.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Ability and willingness to travel nationally is required
