  • Overview

    SUMMARY:

    The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of 5 payroll specialists supporting North American payroll processing as well as processing Colleague Payroll. Will ensure that all processes are executed accurately and in a timely manner. Responsible for tracking, and meeting deadlines and SLA’s set forth for the department. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives. Optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching, counseling and implements workable solutions to business issues/problems with minimum referral to management.

    Responsibilities

    GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Process assigned payroll companies on a bi-weekly basis.
    • Supervise Payroll staff as it relates to payroll processing, support tasks, document administration, and reporting/audits to ensure performance objectives are met.
    • Interpret day-to-day business objectives and preparation/execution of operational practices/work programs.
    • Works as a member of the team and covers for team members for vacation and/or high-volume work efforts.
    • Collaborate with business partners to implement process improvements, test system changes, and lead special projects related to the payroll department.
    • Develop and train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies.
    • Ensures department SLA standards are met; accountable for ongoing management of effective client service relationship
    • Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development.
    • Works under minimal supervision on complex projects, with latitude for independent judgment
    • Assist with year-end processing and audit.
    • Escalate potential service issues to Payroll Director
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of Education, training, and work experience.

    FPC required, CPP desired

     

    GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Demonstrated coaching/mentoring skills and issue management problem solving skills
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Ability to adapt to changing environment and support of multiple clients
    • Knowledge and understanding of auditing guidelines
    • Knowledge of tax reciprocity rules and regulations
    • Knowledge of computerized payroll systems, tax codes, reporting requirements
    • Ability to implement payroll procedures and system specifications
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients and public
