  • Overview

    Summary: The Data Processing Technician – level 1 will provide support to the greater Data Operations Team. The Data Processing Technician – level 1 will work under the direction of the Data Processing Manager, but will also work closely with the Data Processing Team Leads and level 2, 3 and Senior level technicians in order to work together as a team to clear the job board each day. The main areas of responsibilities will include processing of electronically stored information [ESI] by using specific eDiscovery and computer forensic evidence handling techniques and industry specified processing applications and tools. The overall intent of this position is to provide support, at the direction of the Team Leads, to ensure quality deliveries of standard jobs while working closely with veteran technicians (levels 2, 3, Sr.). Level 1 Technicians must verify quality of deliverable with a veteran technician as a part of the workflow ahead of completing a job. Level 1 Technicians will ensure high quality standards of the processed data by performing all stages of the project workflow and final output, which include data reduction, processing, loading of data, project reports, status updates and closeout. 

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    Data Reduction 

    • Filters data by file type
    • Filters data by custodian
    • Filters data by Date
    • Removes non-user created data
    • Converts data to useable file types

    Processing 

    • Processes ESI through the appropriate processing tools
    • Analyzes the results
    • Resolves errors
    • De-duplicates Files by custodian or across complete data set
    • Tracks progress through internal PTS (Emerald) Work order
    • Exports data and Prepare for Loading into Review platform

    Loading of Data 

    • Creates load files o Quality Checks data
    • Sorts by custodian
    • Releases for attorney review

    Project Reporting 

    • Provides forms to project teams in line with work being performed
    • Identifies errors and exceptions
    • Maintains project log

    Status Updates

    • Ensures timely updates via email, Emerald and in person
    • Alerts project team of any potential delays or issues with data
    • Communicates to team leads and other technicians

    Job Completion 

    • Validates information entered in Job work order
    • Verifies correct metrics tracked for billing purposes (as identified by specific workflow and instructed by the project manager)
    • Log Time in hours
    • Log Size in gigabytes
    • Log Document/page count in pages 
    • Ensures all steps in job workflow were completed
    • Ensures quality and accuracy of deliverables


    Communication 

    • Provides routine and constructive communication, as well as escalate critical information to Team Leads.

    Service 

    • Provides outstanding customer service to all customers at all times.

    Quality 

    • Raises awareness of any known issues or challenges on projects as quickly as possible.
    • Ensures quality of processed data.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education & Experience Requirements: 

    • Candidates must have a High School Diploma; a minimum of 1-2 years of technical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with litigation support, electronic discovery and computer forensics is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements: 

    • Ability to exercise good judgment
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    • A great attitude and interest in learning.
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and respond to questions in a timely manner from management, clients/customers, vendors and the general public.
    • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to interact with clients and team members with tact and courtesy.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation toward excellent customer service principles and practices in all interactions.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
    • Ability to shadow more experienced technicians to continue along the greater Operations Team career path.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and familiarity with Lexis Nexus LAW, IPro ECapture and KCura Relativity is a plus
